This is a new, unique and exciting program that offers a double
dose of community benefit.
Aussie Recycling Program has been established to capture surplus
mobile phones throughout Australia, to help avoid future environmental
problems being triggered by the dumping of millions of mobile
phones into landfill, currently being stored in cupboards and
office drawers. ARP provides a free, convenient and easy means
for consumers and corporates to recycle their unwanted mobile
phones, in an environmentally responsible manner.
In addition to ARP's environmental focus where protection of the
environment is central to our business strategy, it also has a philanthropic
focus. The program aims to help charities,
to help them continue their worthy causes, by paying money for
every re-usable phone collected. Aussie Recycling Program's
principal activities focus on re-use which is considered to be
the best form of recycling. Accordingly ARP follows the Environmental
Hierarchy to minimize negative impact to the environment and to
maximize preservation of the earth's material resources and energy.
ARP's Duty of Care Promise ensures what cannot be re-used is
recycled properly in line with environmental guidelines. Mobile
phones that cannot be re-used, components are extracted to be
used as spare parts. Older phones and phones that are seriously
damaged are sent to material recycling, where materials can be
recovered and put back into productive use. The remaining materials
are sent for disposal in an environmentally friendly manner with
licensed recyclers with zero going to landfill.
All phones collected are tracked with our end to end tracking
system and auditable records are kept. Complete details of all
phones are kept including brand, model, IMEI number and the complete
history of the product from the point it is collected through
to when it is re-used or recycled.
ARP, in conjunction with its authorised recycling partner,
aims to keep abreast of world's best practice in safe recycling,
and continually improve its practices towards achieving best-practice
levels. |
